The live portion of our virtual IWDC 2021 may have ended, but anyone can still attend the virtual conference, which will be available on the conference platform until Jan. 7.

Highlights include:
  • A discussion focusing on “Epilepsy in Working Dogs,” by Dr. Holger Volk of the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Germany.

  • Penn Vet Working Dogs Center research fellow Dr. Meghan Ramos focusing upon the “Fit to Work” Training Program for puppies 8 weeks to 14 months who mature into Working Dogs.

  • The development of a “liquid biopsy, which is able to detect cancer in dogs at a much earlier stage is explained by Dr. Katherine Lytle, who has worked with canine genetics for nearly a decade.

  • Working dogs, depending on their assignments, often require different diets and nutrition, according to Dr. Debra Zoran of the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at Texas A&M University.
