IWDBA Winter Newsletter – On to 2022

Following a successful IWDC 2021, which drew over 200 participants from 21 countries and featured cutting-edge speakers focusing on the breeding, training, medical and general care of the Working Dog, the IWDBA looks forward to an exciting 2022.

Here are some of the plans we have in store for our members, with the two main goals: One is improving communication among members and allowing them to get to know each other better and everyone’s work with the dogs we all love. The other is increasing exposure of the IWDBA and growing our membership.

CHECK OUR NEW FORUMS ON-LINE: Members logging in to their IWDBA account at https://www.iwdba.org will notice in the top menu a new item FORUMS. To start, we have three available for conversation – Canine Behavior, Conditioning and Private Military/Police. To join any of these groups, simply click on the link to the forum and, to subscribe, click on the subscribe link at the upper right. We are aiming to add more such forums and will be promoting the conversations as they develop.

WEBINARS: We are exploring the possibility of hosting webinars on various topics at our website and through Zoom. This is another way for our members to get to know and converse with other members who share similar interests with our dogs.

LET US KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING LOCALLY: We would like to know about your work with dogs locally and what are some of the unique functions of your dogs. The hope is to develop stories for your hometown papers, digital outlets, TV stations and trade publications. Would you be available for a talk at a major center or university?  We are aiming to give both you and your expertise, along with the IWDBA more exposure. Contact jed.weisberger@iwdba.org and we’ll get the ball rolling in these areas.

IWDC 2023: We are beginning to consider sites for IWDC 2023 – and we certainly hope to meet face-to-face at the 13th International Working Dog Conference. It will be here before you know it, and promotion of it will begin in a few months. Do you have a favorite city or area at which you would like to see us gather? Let us know.
